For over 20 years the WVSTA has held an annual “Trek” Back Packing  trip the weekend of the Columbus Day Holiday as an annual fund raising event that benefits both WVSTA and Camp Mountain Heart, a camp for youth with heart problems. 

Participants are asked to pay an entry fee which covers a T-shirt, a victory luncheon and snacks along the trail.  Each participant is also asked to raise at least $100.00 in donations.

25% of the amount raised goes to Camp Mountain Heart, 75% goes to WVSTA for Trail Development.

“The 2010 Allegheny Trek will take place along beautiful Glady Fork in the High Allegheny Mountains of Randolph and Tucker Counties.  This precious trout stream is also home to hellbenders and herons, black bears and beavers, water shrews and waterthrushes.  Remote and in some spots difficult, this segment of the Allegheny Trail is definitely “eye candy” in early October.”

The 2010 Trek will be the weekend of October 8, 9, 10, 11, 2010.
