The third edition of the
Hiking Guide to the Allegheny Trail is now available. It is a magnificent
3-volume set containing a trail guide, a separate spiral-bound set
of excellent maps and a wildlife watching guide. The guide is a
thorough description of all major (and some minor) turns along the
trail. It includes information on panoramic views of the countryside,
water and campsites, notes on local flora, interesting historical
sites on or near the trail, and where to find groceries and other
amenities. Extensive information on the flora and fauna you can
expect along the trail is now available in the new Wildlife Watching
Guide.
To purchase the guide, send a check for $27 plus $4 shipping and
handling (Total = $31) to:
WVSTA
PO Box 4042
Charleston, WV 25364
If you plan a through hike or even a less extensive long-distance
hike, you will want the hiking guide.
Keep in mind, however, that the guide is not reprinted every year--and
sections of trail occasionally get relocated; so, if the guide and
the blazes don't agree, follow the yellow blazes.
