Section II

Winter weather and major floods regularly bring down trees in several areas. Volunteers are constantly working to remove blowdowns and repair damaged trail, but the work is slow. Please be patient and be prepared for obstacles.

A short section of trail in Canaan Valley State Park that had been re-routed is now back to its original configuration on Railroad Grade Trail.

Because of severe winter weather, you should expect to encounter large trees and other obstacles on the trail between High Falls of Cheat and the Gaudineer Scenic area on Shavers Mountain.

Blazes may be hard to find south of Durbin to Cass.

The tread south of Durbin to Green Bank needs tread work. Be prepared for poor tread.

Ed Pride is coordinator of section 2 and can be reached at 304/368-1415 (127 Reeves Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554).
